Carillion's Central Procurement Department based at Warrington will cover subcontract and material procurement. A senior buyer is assigned to each scheme and leads the process. They work very closely with the Site Team. Administration e.g. enquiries, orders, etc are issued from Warrington.
Subcontractors must undergo assessment and approval prior to working for Carillion. A general competency evaluation questionnaire must be completed which is valid for 2 years. It must contain:
- Company details
- History & capability
- Financial standing
- Management, staff, operatives & training
- Quality & environmental accreditation
- Risk Managment, value management, continuous improvement, customer satisfaction
- Health & Safety evaluation
Packages are awarded on the basis of:
- Past performance & previous experience (where applicable)
- Present workload against capacity
- Project Manager/ Site input
- Price
- Location
- Quality, Health and Safety, and Environmental
Information on subcontractor performance is monitored on an ongoing basis against a set of 13 criteria including health & safety, environment and quality. Performance is monitored by sites and reported centrally. Performance information is used to influence future selection decisions and to identify areas for improvement. Twice yearly we undertake surveys of the supply chain to determine their level of satisfaction with our performance and to identify areas for improvement.
